§ 52.07. LIABILITY FOR WATER METERS.

- Except as provided herein, each user shall pay one-half the cost of the meter utilized in each separate service as a non-refundable security deposit in the amount set forth in the city fee schedule. However, the city shall remain the sole owner of all water meters and it shall be the obligation of the city to maintain the meters and to make repairs necessary by ordinary wear and tear. However, if the meter is destroyed or damaged by freezing or other unreasonable use thereof, the property owner where the meter is installed shall be responsible for the repair or replacement thereof, at his or her own expense. Upon sale of the property to which service is provided, the security deposit shall automatically transfer to the new owner. When a water meter is provided for a newly constructed residence or business, the owner shall pay the entire cost of the water meter, which amount shall be nonrefundable and transferred as set forth in this section.(Ord. 2011-06-07B, passed 6-7-2011; Am.
